About Dr. Raina
Board-certified podiatrist Shweta Raina, DPM, brings considerable experience in podiatric medicine and orthopedic surgery to New York City Ankle & Foot serving men, women, and families at two locations in Jackson Heights and Woodside, Queens.
Dr. Raina was born in Srinagar, India. Her family immigrated to the United States in 1995 and settled in the suburbs of Washington, DC. Both of Dr. Raina’s parents were doctors. Growing up, she volunteered at several Virginia and DC-area hospitals before beginning her formal medical training.
Dr. Raina began her professional pursuits at George Mason University in Fairfax, Virginia, where she earned her Bachelor of Science in Biology. She subsequently enrolled at the Ohio College of Podiatric Medicine in Cleveland, Ohio, and obtained her Doctor of Podiatric Medicine.
Following graduation, Dr. Raina participated in a four-year podiatric residency at New York Hospital Queens in Flushing, New York. There, she trained in comprehensive conservative and surgical management of foot and ankle pathology. She also took in-house calls at a Level-I trauma center and performed surgery with podiatrists and foot and ankle orthopedists.
During her time as a resident, Dr. Raina also studied abnormal plantar skin temperatures in neuropathic patients, vascular malformations of the foot, and management of midfoot fracture-dislocations.
As a podiatrist, Dr. Raina has a warm and friendly demeanor. She believes in taking a “whole-body” approach to podiatry and considers each patients’ unique history and medical conditions, as well as their age and lifestyle before developing a treatment plan. Dr. Raina always sets aside time to spend with each individual and discusses all options for treatment before moving forward. She’s also fluent in English, Spanish, and Hindi.
