Pediatric flat feet

Flat feet occur because the tissues that support the joints in the foot weaken.

As the children grow, the tissues tense up and form the plantar arch, more or less at two or three years of age. Aging, overuse, injury or disease can cause tendon damage and cause a flat foot to develop.
